On Friday 3 July, from 21h00 to 06h00 upcoming talent gets connected to the “bootleg residents” in 2,5hrs back2back dj sets. Entrance is free, the line-up is as follows:

- Shawn Rubens vs. V-Ruz
- Loki vs. Morad the Sjeik
- Slew vs. Rasz
- Martin Mussche vs. Ben Fresh
- Tommy Tunne vs. Robert de Laat

Expect some hot and steaming house, minimal, tech-house and techno!

After an exciting month final of the Bootleg DJ Contest in the Bootleg DJ Cafe in Rotterdam, Slew reached the semi-final. Respect goes out to his opponents DJ Vree and DJ Blanda, which were difficult competition. With a slight difference of 1,5 point in the final score from DJ Blanda, Slew  fortunately made it to the semi-final, which will be held in coming August. More info on that event will be confirmed later on.

By winning the monthl final, Slew receives a coupon worth EUR 50,00 for Clone Records Store, his profile will be published in Speaker Magazine of Popunie and he will be invited to spin some records in the Dynamix Radio Show.

Tonight it is time for another edition of OUT OF THE BOX, the open-minded, monthly party, where you can hear a variaty of many electronic music styles. Tonigth Slew will be performing with Mikal in a back2back set.

You can expect a build up from the deepest house to funky and grooving tech-house, and rolling and funky techno. Location: Muziekcafe Zinniz, Oud-Beijerland and free entrance! After that, Slew will do another set at the earlier announced Detour, in the Bootleg DJ Cafe! So, lots to do in this Easter Weekend.

And eh.. there is a surprise for the one who finds the hidden egg!

Good news! On 20 April, from 22:00 till 0:00, I will be performing in Mark Boon’s radio show Onderstroom, at the local broadcasting channel Haarlem 105. The show will also be broadcasted via a live stream on the internet. This ‘gig’ is also posted in the gigs section.

In the footage section you can find the photo’s of the OUT OF THE BOX edition of 13 March. Mikal and Slew first warmed up the crowd with some grooving house and tech-house sounds. Because two people celebrated their 30th birthday, both Hans Gruber and Morad the Sjeik also did their thing with raw, dirty house and funky funk house. Tijs on Sax sweeped it up with his sax. One of the upcoming gigs will be Pleasureville in Kirchhundem, Germany. This will be the second time to perform here. Both individually and together with the members of Lift It Up we will be performing at the second edition of Pleasureville on 15, 16 and 17 May. Again over 30 artists, both dj’s and live acts, will be pleasing your senses during this weekend with pounding music.

Pleasureville is a 30 hour festival with three area’s (Basement, Terrace and Night Cafe), in and around the four star hotel Carpe Diem in Kirchhundem - Oberhundem in Germany (www.hotel-carpediem.nl). Last September, the first edition of Pleasureville took place at the same venue, which was a great succes. Therefore the organisation decided to come up with a second edition in May 2009. More information on the line-up will follow soon.

The hotel offers several facilities, like a sauna, Turkish steam bath, restaurant, mountainbikes, table tennis, other sport facilities, bowling, fitness, lounge spot with camp fire and all in the middle of a forrest and beautiful surroundings. But the main idea, of course, is to party the entire day on the best minimal,  deep and tech-house and techno beats!

You can find my new track “Burglary” in the music section. It’s a deep, soulful house track, with techie hats. The synths I’ve used are clear and clean, in my opinion, and match with the rest of the sounds. While making the track it reminded me of a burgler, sneaking into a house. From then I also started to look for some samples that were supportive to this idea. You can hear them as a background sound in the track.

Via Groundzero Projects I’m participating in a remix contest for the track Illogical - Tank. You can find my submitted track in the music section of this site or go to my music player on the Groundzero Projects website. Comments on the track are much appreciated, both positive or negative. I’ve made it to the last 16 and by a face-off system am now competing against the remix of Tobieproject from Trieste, Italy. If you want to cast a vote on one of the two tracks, you can go here. You do need to create a GZP profile though.

Groundzero Projects is a platform for both beginning and professional DJ’s and Producers, music junkies, club promoters, record labels and vocalists. They are organising these kind of contests, like remix contests or own production contests on a regular basis. Also the interactivity with other members motivates you, as a musician.
